Casper exam guide
What is the Casper test?
Casper is an online, open-response situational judgment test used by admissions programs. You explain how you would think through realistic situations involving other people, competing responsibilities, and professional judgment.
How the Casper exam works
The standard format has 11 scenarios: four with video responses and seven with typed responses. Each has two questions. Video answers allow one minute per question; typed answers share 3 minutes 30 seconds. The assessment takes about 65–85 minutes, including optional breaks. Some programs use a different format.
Format checked October 7, 2026 against Acuity Insights' Casper overview. Confirm the version required by your program before reserving a test. PrepSprint trains typed responses and does not simulate the full official exam.
What does a question look like?
In an original PrepSprint example, a teammate misses a deadline because of a family issue. You are asked how to respond, then how to share the urgent work fairly if the deadline cannot move. There is no single phrase that solves both questions: explain what you would clarify, who is affected, and what you would do next.
Compare weaker and stronger responses to this exampleA useful first practice session
- Read the scenario and both questions before starting your timer.
- Write your own answers in one shared 3:30 window, leaving time for the second question.
- Review one strength and one gap in your reasoning, then rewrite the weaker part.
Use the three-scenario mini test for pacing, or browse questions to work on a specific skill.
Casper test FAQ
Is the Casper exam a medical knowledge test?
No. Casper is a situational judgment assessment. It asks how you would handle interpersonal and professional situations, rather than testing memorized medical facts.
Does PrepSprint replace the official practice test?
No. Use Acuity Insights' official resources to check your test format and technical setup. PrepSprint provides additional original typed scenarios and educational AI feedback; it is independent and does not predict an official score.
Can I try Casper-style questions without paying?
Yes. Browse PrepSprint's original questions and sample answers free, and receive one scenario review without an account. Google sign-in adds two more free reviews. Each review covers both typed answers.
